Map & Layers

ProFish has 21 total map layers: 10 free, 11 Pro.

Free tier (10): weather overlay (rain, cloud cover), satellite view, normal base map, wind arrows, solunar overview, catch markers, community catches, tide stations, fishing spots, and OpenSeaMap (full feature set — the largest single free layer).

Pro tier (11) — confirmed layers include: depth contours & bathymetry, water temperature / sea surface temperature (SST), ocean currents, Fish Finder AI, and offline map downloads for remote areas. The remaining Pro layer names beyond those confirmed are not fully enumerated.

Pro Fish Finder AI is a Pro-only smart map layer, not a separate app section, that combines satellite SST analysis, chlorophyll-a concentration (bloom/baitfish detection), and current/structure data to surface likely fish "hotspots." It is a probability tool, not a guarantee of catch outcomes.

AI Fish ID

Point the camera at a catch and an on-device AI identifies the species. The database covers 400+ freshwater and saltwater species worldwide; the on-device camera model directly recognizes 150 of those species without needing internet for the model itself. The full AI Fish ID feature, including regulation lookups tied to the result, requires an internet connection and does not work fully offline.

Pro 5 successful identifications per day; a failed or unrecognized attempt does not count against the limit. Free AI Fish ID is not included.

CatchMaster

CatchMaster is a prediction tool usable at the angler's current location or any saved/searched fishing spot. The user manually selects water type — saltwater, freshwater, or brackish — and CatchMaster returns a list of fish species likely to be encountered at that location, in the current season, at the current time of day, each with an estimated encounter percentage. CatchMaster predicts what you might catch there; AI Fish ID identifies what you already caught from a photo.

Fishing Regulations

Covers 61 countries and 700+ regional zones, including season dates, bag limits, size limits, and license requirements. Regulation lookups are linked to AI Fish ID results, connecting an identified species to its applicable local rule.

Catch Log

Auto-tags photo, GPS location, and weather conditions per catch. Includes personal statistics and charts, season-over-season comparison, a species "bucket list" tracker, and export to CSV or shareable catch cards.

Fishing School & Knot Guide

A structured lesson library covering beginner through advanced skill levels, step-by-step fishing knot tutorials, a fish ID quiz, and a Casting Simulator practice mode with a power meter, distance, and accuracy scoring to train casting technique.

Moon Calendar & Trip Planner

A monthly moon-phase calendar with a fishing-quality rating per day, a seasonal species-activity calendar, a trip planner combining weather and solunar preview, and solunar major/minor feeding-period alerts.

Night Fishing & SOS

A dedicated night mode with a red-light-optimized interface that preserves night vision, an SOS emergency button that shares GPS coordinates, nocturnal species bite-window predictions, and AI gear recommendations adapted to current conditions.

Smart Gear (Bluetooth)

ProFish supports Bluetooth pairing for compatible sonar units, bite alarms, and cameras. Devices pair directly from the app. Once paired, device data such as sonar readings surfaces inside the relevant ProFish screens alongside the app's other tools.

Community & Leaderboard

A leaderboard with Global, Regional, Species, and Friends views, filterable by This Week, This Month, or All Time. A public community feed supports catch reports, tips, and photos — public posts are visible to all users; see the Privacy Policy for how public posts and deletions work.

Coming Soon Tournaments are not yet live; ProFish's in-app messaging states they will launch once the community has grown enough to support them. No launch date is set.

Accounts & Data

Sign-in is via Google or Apple. Data stored: account email/display name, catch data (species/weight/length/photos/notes), GPS coordinates (only with permission granted), device info, anonymized crash reports, and subscription tier. Backend: Firebase (Google Cloud); data is stored in the EU.

FishCast Scoring

FishCast analyzes real-time weather, tide predictions, barometric pressure, water temperature, and solunar theory to produce an hour-by-hour bite-probability score, highlight peak solunar feeding windows, and generate species-specific predictions. Free gets a 1-day forecast window; Pro gets 16 days. FishCast is a probability tool, not a guarantee of catch outcomes.
